The bird is a Nile Goose and the river is the Sabie.
The location is Kruger's main restcamp Skukuza.
Photographed during sunset.

Nile Goose(wiki)...
This 63-73 cm long species breeds widely in Africa except in deserts and dense forests, and is locally abundant. They are found mostly in the Nile Valley and south of the Sahara. It has also been introduced elsewhere; Great Britain and the Netherlands have self-sustaining feral populations, the former dating back to the 18th century, though only formally added to the British list in 1971. In Britain, it is found mainly in East Anglia, in parkland with lakes.

Hello Annick,

You have captured the image of this bird in an excelent posture. There is such a perfect sharpness in the image that gives you the feeling it would be possible to touch the bird. Colors also are so fine rendered and there is an amaising reachness of color tones light's reflection on water suface.

Hi Annick.
very fantastic pose, good timing
very good sharp
well done.

What an interesting pose and good timing on your part Annick, slightly red shifted lights of the sun low on the horizon illuminated the bird and its natural environment perfectly. A bit funny though, the goose looks as if waiting to meet a long awaited relative...

Hi Annick!

You captured very interesting moment. Bird is in great pose, it looks almost like eagle from blazons :-) Good composition with lots of space from right side. I like long shadow and warm light also.
