[Richtlijnen voor opmerkingen] Opmerking van de fotograaf
In Dion, one of the most important archeological sites of the Olympic Riviera region in Greece, at one point it got so hot that I sheltered from the sun under a wooden sunroof. On the stone floor, big reddish-looking ants were running in bizarre patterns. I lay down on the floor next to where a couple of them were feeding on what seemed to be drops of spilled soda.

To my amazement I saw that their abdomens were perched upright all the time. I grabbed my camera and got this shot of one of them. I know, it is not entirely in focus. I need yet to learn how to do that!

The ant you see here is a worker of the species Cataglyphis Nodus They nest in sandy soils on tracksides and in coastal olive groves. The workers are very active during the heat of the day and run quickly in zig-zag paths with their dark abdomens held at an angle above their bodies. They are also native to Israel and Africa.

Nice capture Wendy. With a litle bit more contrast and sharpnes will be better.
It looks like ready to attact.Be careful with these litle creatures.
