Coenonympha thyrsis is an endemic butterfly of Crete. The adults feed on nectar mainly on Satureja thymbra , Thymus capitatus. Here it feeds on nectar of S. thymbra. Many are flying in June and lay their eggs on wild plants of family Poaceae and Fabaceae.It is sitting in rocks, dry herbs and wild plants.It can be found in coastal areas up to 2000 m in mountains e.g. Idi mountain. At present it is not protected. It hibernates as larvae and it starts to fly at the end of April. It could develop 2-3 generations /year.

Very interesting composition, Nikos.
Looks like you too are getting dirt spots on your camera sensor like I'm doing; I see a row of them in front of the subject.
The colours and details on the wing are very good.

The butterfly is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the detail if the Cretan Small Heath butterfly. The light is giivng good colors rendering. Have a nice day.
