The Rimmed-Petal Maxillaria
Flower Size about 1 1/2" [about 4 cm]
A medium sized, cold to cool growing, solitary leafed epiphyte that is found in the coastal forest and Minas Gerais of Brazil and Ecuador at elevations of 2500 to 3200 meters and has a long, branched rhizome and clustered to set apart, ovoid, compressed, ribbed pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, ligulate, acute leaves and blooms on a 3 to 6" [7.5 to 15 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising on a newly developing pseudobulb that holds the large, well open flower amid the leaves occuring in the summer and fall.
