Mottled Emigrant (Catopsilia Pyranthe)
Wingspan is 50-70mm. The male is smaller than the female and is more variable in size. Both sexes have a black spot at the distal end of the forewing cell though this spot is sometimes absent in the male.

In both sexes, the ground color of the underside of the wings is greenish. Except for a small area on the lower half of the forewing, which is unmarked, the remaining areas are marked with very fine reddish-brown lines.

It occurs all over from sea level to about 2000 feet elevation. It is often seen at much higher elevations during migrations. It is very seasonal and appears in large numbers during the pre-monsoons periods.
its flight is quite slow, straight and less bouncy. It is not a species of the high canopy and is most frequently seen flying just above weedy vegetation or low bushes, stopping now and again to nectar on the flowers of small shrubs and herbs. During the hot weather, the males mud-sip, often in the company of other white butterflies

This species is on the wings these days here in Noida too, Pankaj. Rather difficult to capture because of its shifty habits.
You have done a good job of capturing one in Raipur. Looks like they are more cooperative there :-)!
It is a sharp and crisp shot with the veins on the wings clearly marked out.
Thanks for sharing it and regards.

Fantastic detail - wonderful sharpness. Another great photo.

Hi Pankaj,
beautiful green tones throughout this image, with excellent clarity and perfect focus...very well done.
Paul

Hello Pankaj,
I wonder how you managed to capture this beauty.Whenever I see it , it's always flying and seldom sits still for me to get a good shot.Your picture is very good with focus and sharpness spot on.Good POV showing off the patterns on the wing.
TFS,
Smitha.

Hi Pankaj,

A very appealing photo of this butterfly on the leaf. The greens are very pretty and have just enough contrast while blending well. The background is perfect for showing them off.

Extra for this one. Wonderful subdued tones and lighting. Very professional work.

Hello pankaj,
Fine capture of a Mottled Migrant: you hhave captured all that it has to show sharply and with good lighting and colour. (It is one of those species that never rests with its wings open).
Fine composition with a natural BBG.
TFS,
Ivan

Belle photo de ce papillon vert, plus malin que les colorés car lui, ton sur ton, il échappera a ces prélateurs. Belle vue des nervures, bon détails de la tete et des pattes. Amitiés Thomas

Hi Pankaj,
It's a very nice capture of this butterfly with good focus, sharpness, colors, POV and composition. TFS
Best wishes,
Selen

Hello Pankaj,

This is a great close up! I like the composition showing the butterfly from profile. Shooting perpendicularly on the wings maximizes the chances of keeping the whole subject in the area of sharp focus. The details in the face of the subject are also great. The green hues in the wings were captured very good. The patterns from the upper side of the wings are clearly visible through the scales from the underwing. Excellent DOF to show the left side legs defocused. This adds perspective to your shot! Great job! Thanks for sharing!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie
