Hi all!

It isn't an archaeological finding of a broken vase, nor a modern work of art. Actually, it is a work of art, but not made by human hands. The erosion - or, in other words, our nature - has created this shape patiently during many years. The difference of the hardness of the minerals that compose Flysch offers this possibility. It's particularly the water that works on Flysch and transforms it into delicate and fragile pieces like this one.

In order to give you an idea of the real dimensions, this piece of rock (probably sandstone) is about 15cm long. When I walk through the river Ärgera, I "scan" the floor with the uncountable stones and rocky surfaces to try to discover shapes and patterns that please me. Sometimes I forget to ckeck where I step on and find myself outstretched on the stony bed... Hmm, one of the consequences was the surgery on my hand this summer. Now, I sometimes have to cheat a little bit when my wife asks me where I go...

:-)

Luckily, the places where I go for my pictures are lonely, I'm probably the only crazy guy that walks through narrow and desert-like canyons like the ones in the Plasselbschlund. But for me, it's a possibility to charge energy and to find mental ease.

Kind regards

Markus

Taken in RAW, imported to PS, level corrections and attenuation of the bright tones, little saturation, sharpness and saved as TIFF. Then cropped and saved as JPG for TN.

Kind regards

Hi Markus!

So now we know what you risk to find all these beauties :)
But seriously by cautios but don't ever stop discovering places like this!

It really does look non-natural on the thumbnail, and is wonderful to find it made by nature. The depth of the image is fantastic.

I hope you're OK by now with your hand, take care my friend!

Best regards,
Andor

Hello Markus,
A superb image demonstrating the effects of the forces of nature. It also shows us how fine the silts that made up the structure of Flysch are and that it must be quite hard when it has taken the test of time to wear it down to the shape you present here.
I must say that the thumbnail does look like a shard of pottery!
Thanks for sharing this interesting and unusual image,
Regards, Ivan

Hi my neighbour, my dear friend it can be also nice to be a neighbour in reality:) An another artic formation made by flysch and natural events. Your notes are excellent as usual.

Hi markus. I would have though this was a part of a vase made from clay. natura has over time shaped this so well with wind and water. you have captured this with good detail and natural looking colours. Inetersting notes . well done TFS.

Hi Markus,

I like this composition very much. I miss a little corner of the rock on the right, though. Nevertheless it is a pleasure to the eye.

Thanks!

Ishi

Francine

Hello Markus,
I heartedly thank you for your effort and your passion on contribution for the beauty of nature! I do know what a photographer think when he decided what he wish to take or shoot no matter what the cost it, always lonely in the open field or even in quite dangerious place! just take good care!
the image is in good quality of sharpness, good lighting, nice colour and details
well done
greeting from NZ
Tony

There was a photographer who lived in the generation and in a macro way vs Ansels giant pano's, whose name I totally forget..perhaps it was that fella they named a photo meter after maybe not...but your images, in colour instead of B&W as most of this genre were done in those days...your images are as consistently as close as anyone could expect...I know. I think a few others know as well. Perhaps it is in closed circles where we meet our best friends and understand how they say and why...you are a good man with a good heart..and you still strive on to make your work known and yet live each day as we all do in our homes and cabins...Very fine addition Markus..I love your work...I really do!

Another shot that would make a great large print hanging on my wall! The sublte difference in tones and colour, mixed with detail sharpp edges make this an image suprsingly full of things to look at...well done as always my friend.

Hi Markus,
You keep on amazing me with these abstract photos. Your trained eye is something special and I do hope that one day my eye will get a little close to it. The way nature has created this wonderful piece of art is magnificent. Not only the shape but also the color combination is stunning. It looks like your macro lens is making over time and produces top result.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Markus,it's incredible that you show us today! Really i thought was painted by men, very very curious!!! Thanks a lot for this discover, have a nice day,Luciano

A remarkable bit of stone, Marcus.
With your discerning eye, you are opening a new window on the study of nature. Your note opens our eyes to the beauty and wonder of something that we treat with utter indifference.
This is a well captured shot in which we see nature's work very clearly and cannot help admiring it.
Thanks for sharing the picture and best regards.

Hi dear Markus ,
A superb shot from you about the nature.
Very well exposed.

Hello Markus,
Indeed, this does look like an old pottery dish with crackled effect!! This piece looks very fragile though! Interesting natural creation very nicely shown here in beautiful colours. Here we scan for beautiful pebbles along the beaches as you scan for stones and rocks on your lonely walks. But you have the silence I expect, we have the sound of the sea.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hallo nochmals,
"Designed by Liebherr" auch!
Ich rate mal (als Geologie- Stümper darf man sicher): das gelbe ist Eisenoxyd, das schwarze ist Eisensulfat. Sieht wirklich gut aus, das Bild.

Markus,
Here I am again looking through the prizes you bought from your canyon walks.Another amazing work of art....nature in one of its best creations...so much like a piece of a crockery lost in time ...fantastic find, superb PoV highlighting and presenting your prize in the very appreciable light. Thanks again:)

Trust your hand is good now and you taking good care. And hope Mrs.Markus is not worrying any more:)
Cheers

Ciao Markus,
la natura con tutti i suoi elementi ha costruito lentamente questa scena che tu hai estrapolato in un'artistica interpretazione di tipo astratto, in cui forme e colori gratificano i nostri sensi. Eccellente lavoro.
TFS.
Maurizio
