[Richtlijnen voor opmerkingen] Opmerking van de fotograaf
Hello everybody ...
Today I need your help again ...

In spring I captured this yellow-eyed insect - it looks a little sleepy ;-)

First I thought this is a common mayfly (Ephemeroptera). But they have brown eyes and the eyes are much more smaller than here.
This one has such big eyes like a dragonfly ...
I read that male also can have "Turbaneyes" - that's the german name, don't find the english one ...
But the Turbaneyes are separate as I saw on some shots.

So please ... tell me what I captured here, I would be very happy.

I posted another shot of this guy - full size.

Thanks for any words and have a good week.

Hi Sabine,

I love your title!!! I have no idea what this is but it is a great close-up. Excellent details of the head and body and most unusual colors. I love the transparent wings and the pose on the leaf. I'm still laughing at "bedroom eyes."

Merci beaucoup!

Hi Sabine,
Very good close-up capture of this Mayfly; great POV and composition, sharp details and beautiful bright colours.

Hello Sabine,
Excellent close macro of a freshly-emerged Mayfly taken with superb sharpness, DOF and colours against a fine neutral BG. When freshly emerged the eyes are pale and they darken after a couple of hours.
Thanks and best wishes,

Ciao Sabine, fantastic eye for this Mayfly, superb macro with amazing details and wonderful sharpness, great focus and beautiful blurry BG, very well done, ciao Silvio

Wishnu, Superb shot. Looks like ice cream balls. Great colors, sharp focus and nice shot. Ganesh

This so close in image surely changes the way one might feel about a dragonfly...should that be the name...Great colourings and super macro details bring it out very well!

An amazingly detailed macro Sabine. Also very strange one for me too. But you captured it so perfectly MF!
TFS this fine image.

HI Sabine,
This is inded a Mayfly, but as Ivan says,it is just freshl;y emerged from the pupa which is why the eyes are so different.
As it matures it will become more like the adults we know.

Hi Sabine

I can't give you any exact ID on this little fellow either...sorry...but i also agree with what some of the other TN members have said: it's most likely a mayfly.
I've also seen one - extremely small though - that had very brightly colored eyes, too. I took some photos of it...but they are quite bad and old.
Anyway, your macro here is great, with very nice sharp details and a good control of the DOF, since you wanted to enhance these impressive eyes.
I like it, and i like the WS photo, too.

Bravo and TFS

Hello Sabine,

Very interesting capture of this fly. It looks like Mayfly. As you've said eyes are bigger. I've captured a mayfly some days back at night. Its eyes are smaller than this. I'll post it soon.
This details and colors are fantastic.Eyes are lovely.

Thanks for sharing
