Yesterday after two days of snow we decided to make a trip out to the Cypress Hills and what a treat we had. We saw five Moose, two yearlings, two cows and a bull. There was at least a couple of hundred deer both Mule and White-tail. But the real winner was the scenery, the freshly fallen snow and a thick coating of frost from the ice fog. Truly a magical winter wonderland, I wish I had a better eye for shooting landscapes. This image is of a yearling Moose that was so inquisitive that we were able to get very close, but she always had to have a tree between us, thus the title of this posting. I was sure glad we have a four wheel drive yesterday as many of the roads in the park were closed.

I know that some folks like the blue cast to snow but in this case there was also a blue cast to the moose and tree. I removed the color cast and selectively used Levels and Shadows and Highlights on adjustment layers to brighten the moose a bit and to bring out those wonderful eyes and eyelashes. I did a bit of sharpening too.
